An Interview with Managing Director Ian Keith to Celebrate 10 Years of DUAL Asset!

1. What inspired you to start DUAL Asset 10 years ago?

  • Phil Oldcorn! I worked for Phil previously at First Title Insurance and we had a clear vision of where we wanted to take the new company…It was too exciting an opportunity to turn down.

2. When you started working for DUAL Asset, did you think you’d be here 10 years later?

  • Absolutely. We wanted to build a long-term, sustainable business and the DUAL Group was the perfect place to do this. Even though we are 10 years in, I feel we are only getting started and there are still many opportunities globally that we plan to explore.

3. What is your proudest moment in the 10 years since DUAL Asset started?

  • That is a very difficult one…..It could be issuing our first ever policy back in 2013. Or the various all company strategy events we have had over the years, where the team always get on so well and have a great time. However, it is hard to beat our 10 year party last month. Seeing so many colleagues and clients in the room was an extremely proud moment.

4. What is something people may not know about you?

  • Not directly involving me, but my Great Granny was the oldest person in Ireland at one stage and my Great Uncle played in the 1958 World Cup for Northern Ireland (may be a long time until we see Northern Ireland in another one!)

5. Which is your favourite funniest memory you’ve had at DUAL Asset?

  • Most may not be appropriate for public consumption…the annual secret santa present giving always causes a few laughs, especially when the organiser never manages to get the names right!

6. What is something you have learned over the past 10 years?

  • The most important thing in running the business is getting recruitment right. You can have the best products and distribution in the market, but if you don’t the right people, then you will struggle to be successful. We have a great team at Asset and it truly is a people first business.

7. What would you say to someone that is considering joining the DUAL Asset team?

  • Obviously I’m biased, but it is a great place to work. If you want to make something of your career and challenge yourself, then don’t just stay in a job on which you are comfortable. We want people who are going to change the way we do things and want people to challenge the status quo.

8. What makes DUAL Asset stand out from other organisations?

  • I think it is the global nature of our business and to date, we have insured in over 50 countries. We don’t just want to be a UK Legal indemnity business, we want to create markets and products where they are needed.

9. Where do you see DUAL Asset going in 10 years?

  • Following on from the previous answer, we want to have local products in local markets, underwritten by local experts. We are only scratching the surface at the moment with regard to where we can distribute our insurance products.

10. Describe DUAL Asset in one sentence

  • An exciting and innovative company with a great culture and the best team in the market.
